The search for smart self-healing materials and preventive repair methods is justified by the increasing sustainability and safety requirements of structures.
The SARCOS COST Action arose from the need for consolidating a network of researchers working in one of the most current hot-topics, such as the development of preventive repair methods including self-healing approaches, aiming to increase the sustainability of the traditional construction sector and to guarantee the service life of concrete structures.
After 4 years of performing activities funded by COST, the Action ends with a well-consolidated network of researchers working together in the development of smart construction materials for tomorrow, looking for practical advanced solutions for the end-users of the future. This publication is based upon work from COST Action SARCOS (CA 15202), supported by COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology).
